Choosing between a rod mill and a ball mill for crushing steel slag

Rod mills and ball mills are two commonly used grinding equipment, widely used in industries such as ore dressing, steel slag, cement, and construction sand. They not only have similar functions but also look almost identical, making it difficult for novice mine owners to distinguish between them. The medium used in a rod mill is a steel rod, while in a ball mill, it is a steel ball, hence the names.

Based on the current construction situation, whether it is road and bridge construction, housing construction, or the construction of highways and high-speed railways, the use of steel slag as aggregate has become a widely applied raw material. Projects involving the preparation of cement from steel slag and the preparation of concrete from steel slag have received special attention. The rod mill is commonly used in steel slag recycling production lines. But why is that?

In order to alleviate environmental pressure and scarcity of resources, the energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and efficient advantages of the rod mill for steel slag are in line with the requirements of green production in the country. Therefore, compared with many other equipment, the rod mill is more suitable for the development requirements of steel slag recycling projects and is favored by such projects. In the steel slag recycling industry, it is generally believed that steel slag has a glassy structure, high iron content, and high fineness requirements, making it unsuitable for rod mills. However, ball mills can grind pulverized coal steel slag, but they require pre-drying and have complex processes and low yields with high energy consumption. Therefore, the use of technologically upgraded and process-enhanced rod mills is highly suitable for processing steel slag.

DaHua Heavy Machinery - GMBZ Series High-Efficiency Energy-Saving Rod Mill

Discharge granularity: 0.2-5mm

Reference production capacity: 10-130t/h

This series of rod mills adopts high-end rolling bearing support instead of traditional Babbitt alloy tile shaft support, resulting in low operating resistance, 10-20% energy savings, and over 20% increased production capacity. The equipment is easy to operate, with a stable and reliable structure, large crushing ratio, and good purification effect. The special discharge structure and environmental measures ensure uniform discharge, large discharge volume, and low pollution. The specially designed feeder provides a large feeding capacity. The equipment is equipped with auxiliary devices such as a slow-speed drive device and a dry oil injection device, and can also be configured according to user requirements. The rod mill for steel slag is an ideal choice for steel slag recycling.
